JAWSFEST/THE
TRIBUTE 2012
It was billed as the largest
Jaws event since the release of the film. It was even supposed
to
be bigger than its older brother, Jawsfest 2005, 7 years earlier. It
didn’t quite live up to the expected estimated numbers, but it did
not disappoint either. Though there were less cast and crew that
attended than was billed, and in spite of the August tourists
overcrowding, peak seasonal island rates and restaurant prices, and
the humidity so thick that the afternoon rains spoiled some of the
outside activities, it was still a fantastic gathering of so many
fans from all over the world. Once again, if even for a few days,
fans, cast and crew were back once again, on Amity Island.
Coinciding with the release of “JAWS” on Blue-Ray,
Jawsfest/The Tribute may have been a last chance gathering of those
surviving people associated with the film, as sadly, 37 years after
the release of the movie, many have passed away. My wife and I
attended and were so happy to meet so many very awesome fans who, no
matter where they came from, all brought their passion with them for
this amazing film that simply has an unending
after life.
